Edward Leedskalnin had such individuality and passion, a passive yet “I’ll show you” attitude that created possibly the greatest modern megalithic mystery…. The Coral Castle. Located in Miami, Florida the Castle has existed since 1923 when construction began, 28 years later in 1951 the death of Edward Leedskalnin left the Coral Castle standing as it is today.
Why is this coral castle so interesting you might ask? Well perhaps it was because it was built by one man weighing in at close to 100 pounds, or perhaps it is that, much like the pyramids of Giza of (which he claimed to know the secret of), No one can explain how he could move 1100 tons of solid rock pieces. Some of those individual pieces weigh in at as much as 30 ton! Edward then proceeded to load these pieces into a truck and drive them 10 miles to a new location… there is no account of anyone seeing how he did this…
Leedskalnin cranking a generator that he built himself to run his radio and a few other small electronic devices.
Leedskalnin was engaged to Agnes Scuffs (I know her name makes her sound like a cartoon character) at the age of 23… While Agnes was only 16! So yes, he may or may not have been something of a child molester. On the night before the wedding however, she broke it off. Leaving Ed Leedskalnin an empty shell of what he once was… 13 years later he began crafting what would become known as the modern american stone henge. Not only did he build the castle, he began experimenting with magnetics and wrote and published 5 booklets… (talk about motivated) one of which had a section entitled My Sweet Sixteen, which is entirely creepy to read… If you are curious it can be found at www.leedskalnin.com
Now to make it even more interesting Edward Leedskalnin with the education of a 4th grader wrote these 5 booklets ranging from ethics to magnetics and everything in-between, with 3 of the 5 being on magnetics… well with these theories of magnetics paired with the fact that he BUILT A FREAKING CASTLE the next logical thought would be that he may have invented a means to lift large objects using magnetic force.
Leedskalnin is quoted as saying “You know we receive an education in the schools from books. All those books that people became educated from twenty-five years ago, are wrong now, and those that are good now, will be wrong again twenty-five years from now.” As well as claiming that scientists have a skewed view of the nature of our world at least on a magnetic level…. He published some of these views in his booklet Magnetic Current. One of the other curiosities in his booklet A Book in Every Home is that it only has writing on the right side pages he says
“Reader, if for any reason you do not like the things I say in this little book, I left just as much space as I used, so you can write your own opinion opposite it and see if you can do better.”
Some say that this book is his way of communicating the secret of the coral castle by encrypting it in into this book. In the website www.leedskalnin.com they attempt to unravel the mystery of Leedskalnins understanding of magnetics. They believe that he left the pages blank so that there is space to decipher this secret code. The theory is that he harnessed some sort of anti-gravity mechanism and hid his findings within that book…. Which would make it a whole lot easier to imagine how he balanced a 9-ton block of stone so perfectly that you can rotate the door easily with one finger, or how he stacked blocks on top of each other going up 40 feet in the air!
I really don’t know how this guy managed to build a small size replica of Disneyland. However, I do believe that this man is simply a misunderstood genius… He spent his entire life dissecting the world around him and learning from what he saw around him in nature, which is apparent in his design reflecting that of our solar system. In this pathI believe he discovered something naturally, something that those before us had discovered, and because of that created something reminiscent of another time entirely. His works include a Polaris telescope (a hole in one of the towers perfectly aligned to the multiple star Polaris, aka the north star), functioning rocking chairs, and a sun dial that is two minutes from perfect – all entirely hand-carved from stone. The Coral Castle is truly a magical kingdom built for the withdraw of a brilliant and heart-broken man to shy away from the brutality of society… and a temple built to honor the absolution of perfect love and the infinite grasp of nature’s knowledge… whether or not it was built by ancient alien technology…..idk *wink*
